The 2012 Cinema Touch Awards - COSTUME DESIGN

by
Julien Faddoul

5. Cloud Atlas – Kym Barrett, Pierre-Yves Gayraud

For some great character work. Not only six different periods and styles, but also six different kinds of movies are being made here. It was no easy feat.

4. Anna Karenina – Jacqueline Durran

For a vast array of gowns and coats that all work to unify the film's overall impressionistic façade.

3. Moonrise Kingdom – Kasia Walicka-Maimone

For a spirited offering of 1960s accoutrement. With pink mini-dresses, Peter Pan collars, Boy Scout shorts, knee-socks, saddle-shoes, and that red wool Pendleton coat.

2. Mirror Mirror – Eiko Ishioka

For adding so, so much to the glamour of the gathering. I am always astounded when great designers are able to do "lavish" and do it fresh. And she certainly was one of the greats. RIP dear lady.

1. Argo – Jacqueline West

For a seamless blend of period accuracy and character communication. Her work has to be the most underrated of the film year.

Runner Up: Django Unchained – Sharen Davis
