The 2012 Cinema Touch Awards - DIRECTOR

by

Julien Faddoul

5. Amour – Michael Haneke

For still having better control of his audience that any other filmmaker working today.

4. The Master – Paul Thomas Anderson

For doing some of his best (and worst) work to date. His imprint as one of the great artists of this era of the cinema is already secure, this valiant and fascinatingly bewitching work underlines it.

3. Lincoln – Steven Spielberg

For plunging into history without an ounce of intimidation and then, upon arriving, so bravely stepping back and not intervening.

2. Holy Motors – Leos Carax

For creating the year's funnest puzzle, topping himself with each succeeding cryptic scene.

1. The Color Wheel – Alex Ross Perry

For the year's greatest achievement from the year's most unexpected source. And also, for showing the big boys how it's done.

Runner Up: Moonrise Kingdom – Wes Anderson
