For cementing his stability as the brilliant artist he is, tackling the wuxia genre with such poise it seems effortless.



4. The Croods – Christophe Lautrette
For visually establishing what begins as curiosity and finishes as yearning.



3. The Great Gatsby – Catherine Martin
For, as always, being the best at deconstructing the form. And it is dazzling!



2. Her – K.K. Barrett
For a deft exploration of the semi-conscious. The fluency with which Los Angeles and Shanghai harmonize together is astounding.



1. The Wind Rises - Yôji Takeshige
For once again transporting us to a world of such beauty, brilliantly recreating Showa-era Japan and changing back and forth between realistic and non-realistic designs.
