For providing the charisma that the film desperately needed and for doing it with the saving grace of humor.


4. We Are the Best! – Liv LeMoyne
For emitting an alluring maturity for her age and always anchoring the film as its conscience.


3. Listen Up Philip – Krysten Ritter
For making it clear that Melanie takes no prisoners while efficiently exhibiting the hurt, damaged little girl inside. An intricate balancing act.




2. Boyhood – Patricia Arquette
For her maternal compassion and for her stunning lack of vanity over a 12 year process.


1. Nymphomaniac – Uma Thurman
For the craziest, most inspired characterization of the year. She's only in one scene, but Mrs. H will never be forgotten.
