The 2014 Cinema Touch Awards - CINEMATOGRAPHY

by
Julien Faddoul

5. Ida – Ryszard Lenczewski, Lukasz Zal
For a striking, concise, exquisitely composed film (in Academy ratio).

4. The Immigrant – Darius Khondji
For rendering classical images even more monumental and painterly than the works that inspired them.

3. Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) – Emmanuel Lubezki
For lighting the hallways of the St. James Theatre with such authenticity. He's cinema's most reliable musketeer.

2. Listen Up Philip – Sean Price Williams
For making everything (and everyone) seem so celestially out of place through saturated colors and 16mm film.

1. Under the Skin – Daniel Landin
For otherworldly illustrations that somehow seem all too real. As I walked out of the cinema, I became instinctively frightened by the visual of every crowd I saw.

Runner Up: Mr TurnerDick Pope
