Crisp Criticism - "Ant-Man", "Paper Towns", "True Story"

by
Julien Faddoul

Ant-Man *

Armed with the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, a con-man must embrace his inner-hero and protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats.
The leanest of the Marvel films so far, which doesn’t expunge any feeling of gross overfamiliarity. It is lighter in tone, but just as smug and cinematically pedestrian as one might expect.

Paper Towns

A young man and his friends embark upon the road trip of their lives to find the missing girl next door.
Disgustingly manipulative teen-romance that palls immediately, mainly because it resembles no known reality.

True Story *

The relationship between journalist Michael Finkel and Christian Longo, an FBI Most Wanted List murderer who for years lived outside the U.S. under Finkel's name.
An admirable but highly unfocused attempt to dramatize this story with no nuance solicited.
