The 2016 Cinema Touch Awards - CINEMATOGRAPHY

by
Julien Faddoul

5. Kubo and the Two Strings – Frank Passingham
For action set-pieces that move so vividly they are emotionally overwhelming.

4. Arrival – Bradford Young
For his exquisite rendering and lighting.

3. Moonlight – James Laxton
For a bold minimalism. Those blues and oranges will stick with you, trust me.

2. Jackie – Stéphane Fontaine
For mastering the art of stark lighting and swirling hand-held. It's a brilliant decision both on he and Larrain's part to convey Jackie's grief at such a personal vantagepoint.

1. Hail, Caesar! – Roger Deakins
For recreations of the cinema of the time that are flawless.

Runner Up: The Love Witch – M. David Mullen
